One day I was looking at myself in the mirror and noticed myself looking closer to a forest animal than I’d like. Therefore, it was time to get hair cuts. A slight glitch that I’m currently located in Fort Lauderdale, some 1,200 hundred miles away from my normal barber. Based on a suggestion from my brother-in law Dan (who often transforms into a woodland animal himself) I went to ManKind in the area of SE 2nd St in Fort Lauderdale best beard oil for black men.

It is one of the latest trends of salons, barbershops and spas specifically designed for males. Immediately after stepping through the door, I was greeted with dark woods, red leathers, old-time barber chairs, the aromas of sandalwood, rosemary and lemon and Ashley, half-receptionist-half bartender-total package.
“Hi, welcome to ManKind. Can I get you something to drink?” Ashley told me when I was just a few feet from the door. Hmm. Not a question I get at my regular barber. After a thorough look through selection of beets and wines, I pick the Amber Bock. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the beer was included in the haircut. Haircut and good adult beverage. This is looking great.
Just a couple of seconds later my hair stylist Janet is introduced to me by giving me a firm, professional handshake. She then I am led, with a drink with me, back to my workstation. The stylists wear the same black button-down shirts and a grey vest. The habiliments, paired with extremely comfortable, old-fashioned barber chairs made of red leather create the illusion of being in a classic study or the den. (I’m trying my best to stay clear of the word “Mancave”.) Many TVs are tuned to the necessary ESPNs and news channels.
Janet and I agree on the best way to trim today (not too long and won’t make me look like a sexy dope) Then she goes to work. “Would you like a shampoo?” Janet asks. Naturally she will, as if there was any doubt. Shampoo and a mini scalp massage is, to my opinion, the most effective aspect in any cut. With a relaxed and wet scalp and we return to our chair.
A highly proficient stylist Janet does not hesitate to accept my suggestion to use scissors instead of clippers. I was awestruck by her skill and precision in every cut. She’s a professional. Every so often she stops, and then gives me a beer. A haircut that has integrated beer breaks. Awesome. Janet completes her look by using straight blades, straight razors as well as hot cream for shaving to smooth my hairline. Nice touch.
As I look in my mirror I arrive at the conclusion that, not only been treated to the most pleasant barbering experience for a long time however, I’ve also experienced the best haircut I’ve had in recent time. I highly suggest Janet with all your hair requirements.
Dan is also receiving haircut. (Jessica is his stylist of choice.) His head is more imposing than mine, and I’ve got a few minutes to take. I refill my beer , and then wander around for a while. In addition to a bar and stylish chair, ManKind offers a table for pool and a shoe shine station.
But there’s more. The spa offers full-service services. Hot shaves with straight razors manicures, pedicures, and a variety of massages (including the stereo massage which is two masseuses in one go) facials, waxing , and cooking inside the steam area are just a few of the items on the list of options. The spa appears to be an oasis of calm and relaxation that is adjacent with the salon. I’m eager to make an appointment for a ManKind Massage. If it’s comparable to that haircut definitely be worth it.
ManKind also provides dry cleaning services as well as custom tailored shirts and suits by an expert tailor. This is not exactly what you will might find at your regular stylist.
